The Kills - Black Balloon/Cheap and Cheerful

The Kills’ newest album, Midnight Boom, loses the 2-people-in-a-basement feel of 2005’s No Wow, and instead moves the entire operation to a fancier home without losing any of the simplicity and smarts that got it there in the first place. There’s lots of bass and a much swankier drummer/robot, but the lyrics and the percussive but super-sparse (think Spoon) guitar are better than ever.
